Michele & Michael's Valentine's Inspired Wedding Stationery

Michele and Michael got married over this past Valentine's Day weekend 2014. When Michele asked her fabulous wedding planner at Queen of Hearts Wedding Consultants for something unique to set the tone for her wedding stationery, planner Rebecca Richman sent this awesome bride our way! (Special thanks to Krista Patton Photography for sending us the beautiful photos of our work featured in this blog!)

Having seen Principal Designer Francesca Staffieri's custom illustrated save the dates, Michele asked us to create one for her and Michael but with a different twist: a three-paneled, perforated save the date in the style of the Valentines we used to send to each other in grade school. Francesca got to work on illustrating Michele and Michael's likenesses based upon photographs our beautiful bride sent.

With her save the dates out in the mail getting her guests excited for her big day, Francesca began working on the design system for Michele and Michael's wedding invitation suite and day-of stationery. Michele had requested an elegant, vintage look for her wedding invitation suite carrying the Valentine's theme throughout.

Francesca combined hearts with a gorgeous pattern to create a design that would set the tone for Michele & Michael's big day at The Curtis Center. Everything was beautifully digitally printed on metallic cardstock and mounted on a red backing. The envelopes were lined with the pattern used on the invitation suite.

For her day-of stationery, Francesca carried the design elements from their invitation suite throughout the ceremony program, seating cards, thank you cards, and the footers that printed for her guests' photobooth strips.

The seating cards were tied to small bottles of hot sauce...

We had a blast working with Michele & Michael this past year, and wish them all the best in their new life together! What better way to end this blog than a look at the Photobooth strip (also by Krista Patton Photography) featuring a special guest who dropped by to see the lucky couple: The Philly Phanatic!

Little Woman Design is Now on Etsy!

Hatboro, PA - January 31, 2014. Little Woman Design owner and principal designer Francesca Staffieri has been bringing her unique take on wedding stationery for over two years. Recognized by her couples by winning for the second year in a row, The Knot Magazine's Top Pick for Best of Weddings 2014 as well as the 2014 WeddingWire Couples' Choice Award, Francesca has become well-known for not only her creativity but also her enthusiasm in collaborating with her couples.

Little Woman Design has now opened an online shop on the popular website Etsy. Featuring many of her previous popular designs, the Little Woman Design Etsy shop will provide couples with another way to get wedding stationery from Little Woman Design and provide a fantastic alternative to buying invitations out of a book!

Of course, for custom designed wedding stationery that is as unique as the couple, Francesca still recommends setting up a consultation at the studio located at Trilogy Event Design.

You can visit the new Etsy shop by visiting etsy.com/shop/littlewomandesign. The online shop will be updated as new products become available.

Save the Date for This Weekend's Wedding Expo!

Little Woman Design will be participating in The "Brides and Grooms" Wedding Showcase this Sunday, March 17th at Talamore Country Club. This will be the third show we've done this year with The Bridal Event by Bouche Productions. As always, we are expecting this to be a great event! We'll be on hand to meet with couples to discuss their designs, review our samples, and chat about any questions they may have about their wedding stationery. While we have quite a few samples of our work featured in our online portfolio, couples who attend this show (or schedule a free consultation) will be able to see our latest designs before they hit the web! For more information about this show and to register for tickets, visit The Bridal Event's Talamore page

One of our most popular pieces is Francesca's custom-illustrated save the date! Based upon photographs our couples provide, these unique save the dates can incorporate their color palette, clothing, and any other design elements that are important to them! For a look at how closely these illustrations resemble our couples, be sure to read our blog by clicking here

While we have quite a few projects on our website, we hold many back until after our couples' events. However, after reaching out to one of our brides, she was happy for us to give our readers an early look at her save the date!

Shira and Terence are a fabulous couple that we are currently working with on their wedding stationery. Owner Randi Martin, of Always Fabulous Events, reached out to us back in the fall of 2012 to set up a meeting with us, Shira and her good friend and bridesmaid Tamieka. Once Shira saw Francesca's save the dates, she knew she wanted one to set the tone for their upcoming August 2013 wedding! While many couples opt for a two-sided, paper save the date, Shira asked us to print her design on a glossy magnet. We were so excited to send them out to her, and thrilled that she loved them!

If you are interested in any of our products and services, schedule your free consultation with Francesca by emailing francesca@littlewomandesign.com or calling 267-481-4093.

Save the Date - Michelle & Chris

Over the course of the past 8 months, we have been lucky to have had the chance to work with so many amazing couples on their wedding stationery! Without a doubt, one of our best-selling concepts is the custom-illustrated save the date that we offer. Looking back on our decision to open Little Woman Design, this is perhaps appropriate as it was our save the date that first made us think that our dream of opening our own graphic design studio could become a reality!

Many people have asked how closely Francesca's illustrations resemble the actual couple. We figured that we would let the pictures speak for themselves, but we also wanted to give our readers a look into the actual process.

The custom illustration begins with our couples sending us high-resolution head shots of themselves with which Francesca will base the illustration. We ask our couples what kind of clothing they would like their wedding-day avatars to be wearing. If they have photographs of said clothing, Francesca will incorporate the clothing as well.

Over the past year, we have done several new custom illustrated save the dates, including one based upon the hand-drawings of a child! In early May, we were contacted by Michelle, a wonderful bride who had fallen in love with Francesca's illustration style, and wanted her very own custom illustrated save the date featuring illustrations of herself and her fiance Chris.

During our initial consultation, Michelle stated that she wanted the save the date set against a backdrop of a night-time sky with Chris in a tuxedo and Michelle in her wedding dress. They asked for their wedding color palette of dark purple and black to be incorporated.

With the ideas at hand, Michelle and Christopher uploaded photographs of themselves to the digital workspace we provided them.

Francesca then created an illustration of Michelle and Chris before going to work on creating the nighttime sky with the words "Save the Date" appearing as if they had been written in the stars! Once her work was complete, Michelle and Chris were given the chance to provide their feedback, to ensure that they were entirely happy with how their wedding-day avatars had turned out.

After a few minor tweaks to the illustration, Michelle and Chris loved their save the date, and theirs was the first we had made into a magnet!

Francesca is now hard at work designing Michelle and Chris' wedding invitation suite, before moving on to their seating cards, table numbers, and thank you cards.

Francesca's custom digital illustrations of people are not limited to save the dates. They can be used for wedding invitations, shower invitations, and more! In fact, one of our couples have asked for a digital illustration of themselves to adorn their thank you cards...

For more information about how we can make a custom illustrated save the date for you, or for any of our other products and services, please visit our contact page and we would be happy to meet you for your free initial consultation!

Thank you, Michelle and Chris, for allowing us to use your photos for this blog!

Child's Play…

This past February we were contacted by a bride named Cherl who saw our "Michael and Francesca" save the date on our website and loved it! She inquired as to whether we could do a version of this particular save the date for her and her fiance Shane. Besides incorporating her wedding color palette—green-brown, gray, and a hint of pink—Cherl wanted her save the date to have the same layout on the front and back of the card, with both illustrations of the bride and groom wearing the same clothing as in our own save the date.

She had one request, however. Cherl asked whether we would be able to use her daughter's drawing of both her and her future husband as the basis for the heads on the bride and groom.

Francesca scanned the hand drawings of both the bride and the groom into her computer and went to work on creating a new variation of the "Michael and Francesca" save the date using the drawings of this young child.

Cherl also had asked whether we would give her daughter an "Art by" credit on the back of the card! Who were we to refuse :-) (Out of respect for the little girl, we have not photographed the "Art by" credit on the back of the card) The card was digitally printed, while the return address was printed using a printing press.

Cherl and Shane—thank you for choosing Little Woman Design for your custom illustrated Save the Date! We wish you both a fantastic and joyous wedding day, and a lifetime of happiness! And, please let your daughter know that we would love to work with her again!

Special thanks to Nancy Tirrell Paravano, from the Paravano Company Inc for not only providing our photographs of this project, but for their fantastic job printing this save the date as well. Nancy's photography website can be found here, while the Paravano Company's website can be found by clicking here.
