Cristina & Ryan's Ritz Carlton Wedding

We're lucky to work and collaborate with so many great wedding professionals in the Greater Philadelphia Area, and one of our favorite people to work with is Tanti Lina, owner of floral design company Papertini! Working hand-in-hand to create a marriage of paper and floral is easy when you have a couple of creative and talented artists like Little Woman Design owner Francesca Staffieri and Tanti Lina. When Cristina and Ryan hired Papertini to work with them on their floral designs for their Ritz Carlton wedding, we were thrilled to meet with Cristina and her mother to design an invitation suite and day-of stationery that would complement the midnight-garden theme Tanti had devised.

Using Tanti's vision as a take-off point, Francesca custom-designed an invitation that incorporated our bride's color palette. When it came time to choose the paper, Cristina fell in love with the metallic white paper we offer which gave the design an additional pop. Backed on metallic purple card stock, the invitation created was elegant with a touch of whimsy.

After the wedding, Cristina hired Tanti to preserve the beautiful bouquet she created for her. Hana Willow Design is the fabulous bouquet preservation company that Tanti owns, and made its debut earlier this year. Since then, she has created dozens of amazing shadow boxes that not only serve to preserve the bouquet but also highlight the wedding invitation sent out to guests. This remarkable work of art serves as a fantastic reminder long after the wedding day is finished of the beautiful day that celebrated such a wonderful couple.

And thanks to Jennifer Woodruff Studio, we are able to share these excellent pictures of a Hana Willow Designed bouquet preservation shadow box featuring a Little Woman Designed invitation as its centerpiece...

Michele & Michael's Valentine's Inspired Wedding Stationery

Michele and Michael got married over this past Valentine's Day weekend 2014. When Michele asked her fabulous wedding planner at Queen of Hearts Wedding Consultants for something unique to set the tone for her wedding stationery, planner Rebecca Richman sent this awesome bride our way! (Special thanks to Krista Patton Photography for sending us the beautiful photos of our work featured in this blog!)

Having seen Principal Designer Francesca Staffieri's custom illustrated save the dates, Michele asked us to create one for her and Michael but with a different twist: a three-paneled, perforated save the date in the style of the Valentines we used to send to each other in grade school. Francesca got to work on illustrating Michele and Michael's likenesses based upon photographs our beautiful bride sent.

With her save the dates out in the mail getting her guests excited for her big day, Francesca began working on the design system for Michele and Michael's wedding invitation suite and day-of stationery. Michele had requested an elegant, vintage look for her wedding invitation suite carrying the Valentine's theme throughout.

Francesca combined hearts with a gorgeous pattern to create a design that would set the tone for Michele & Michael's big day at The Curtis Center. Everything was beautifully digitally printed on metallic cardstock and mounted on a red backing. The envelopes were lined with the pattern used on the invitation suite.

For her day-of stationery, Francesca carried the design elements from their invitation suite throughout the ceremony program, seating cards, thank you cards, and the footers that printed for her guests' photobooth strips.

The seating cards were tied to small bottles of hot sauce...

We had a blast working with Michele & Michael this past year, and wish them all the best in their new life together! What better way to end this blog than a look at the Photobooth strip (also by Krista Patton Photography) featuring a special guest who dropped by to see the lucky couple: The Philly Phanatic!

Celebrating the Holiday in Your Wedding Stationery

For most couples, selecting the date of their wedding day is done around the season, the weather, what colors make sense, etc. And while the time of year will certainly influence the overall look of your wedding, what if your wedding day falls on a holiday or holiday weekend. How would you incorporate elements of the holiday into your wedding stationery? Would you even bother to do so?

We had two couples in 2013 who were getting married in the fall near Halloween. Both couples had decided to use design elements from Halloween in different ways. Gina & Sam had set the stage with a photographic save the date featuring them holding pumpkins. One of their parents had actually taken the photograph with a smartphone. They sent it over to Francesca who created this fun Save the Date which featured a likeness of each of them as Frankenstein's Monster and the Bride of Frankenstein.

For their wedding invitation suite, they asked Francesca to recreate Frankenstein's Monster and The Bride for their main invitation.

Meanwhile, Abby and William wanted to incorporate Halloween imagery as well in their stationery for their Merion Tribute House wedding. Abby wanted something fun and traditionally Halloween-y for their rehearsal dinner invitation. We enlisted our Designer, Teddy Nguyen, to create a rehearsal dinner invitation that would evoke the feel of their rehearsal dinner venue — Bistro La Minette — while also featuring a custom illustrated black cat. For her wedding invitation suite, Francesca designed a foil-stamp printed invitation that popped with metallic orange pumpkins.

The foil-stamp printed invitation was then mounted in a pocket fold. We enlisted Paravano Company to print this metallic invitation.

Halloween isn't the only holiday we've had the pleasure of designing for! Coming soon on The Little Woman's Blog is a unique set that Francesca designed to help the couple infuse Valentine's Day design elements in their stationery.

Stacey and David's Rustic Wedding in Chadds Ford

Stacey found her way to Little Woman Design looking for a rustic wedding invitation suite that would do the wedding she was planning at The Gables at Chadds Ford justice. She knew that she would need several different pieces, and wanted to go with a Kraft paper pocketfold that we would overlay with lace.

The design elements Francesca created were carried through each piece of the wedding invitation suite.

For their seating cards, Stacey wanted a business card sized card that appeared to have burnt edges. Every corner of the card was then subsequently punched to create a patterned edge. These cards were then placed into corks that Stacey and David had cut.

Congratulations to Stacey and David! We had a tremendous time working with you both. And, thanks to our good friends at BG Productions who photographed their wedding and supplied us with these fantastic photos of our work.

Stacy and Jared: Wish Upon a Wedding

On July 27, 2012, Stacy and Jared wed at the Adventure Aquarium in Camden, NJ, and Little Woman Design was honored to be involved in their wedding. Honored, because Stacy and Jared had applied for a wish through the Philadelphia Chapter of Wish Upon a Wedding, and we were asked to be one of their wish granters.

Stacy and Jared's love story, so wonderfully caught on film by Blossom Productions, can be viewed on the Wish Upon a Wedding website. Jared has been diagnosed with a brain tumor, and continues to courageously fight this terrible disease with the amazing Stacy by his side!

Jared had proposed to Stacy over the holiday season of 2011, using a snow globe which featured a heart and the phrase "Will you marry me? Yes or No?" engraved.

When it came time to design Stacy and Jared's wedding invitation, they had asked us to incorporate the heart from the snow globe and sea coral to represent their wedding venue! With their wedding colors of coral and silver, Francesca set to work to design them a wedding invitation that would carry the meaning behind their proposal into their invitation suite.

We would carry this system throughout their wedding. For their day-of stationery, we created a two-sided ceremony program backed onto the same coral cardstock.

Tented seating cards featuring the coral design element and again printed upon the metallic white paper greeted their guests at cocktail hour.

Amazing Times Photo Booth provided a photo booth for Stacy and Jared and their guests! We were thrilled to create a custom footer for the photo booth prints.

Working with Eventions lighting, we were able to custom design their GOBO light which lit up their dance floor.

Special thanks to Joelene Russell from In Your Shoes Events who did an amazing job planning and coordinating Stacy and Jared's wedding, as well as Lindsay Docherty Photography for sending us so many amazing photographs from their day!

But most of all we want to thank Stacy and Jared for not only allowing us to use their photographs, but also for being tremendous fun to work with! We wish you both the best!
